[FOR JOSEPH]
BUTTONED UP
It’s Time To Reconsider The Hardworking Shirt
The shirt holds a special place in all our wardrobes. And in JOSEPH's search for the perfect transeasonal, modern-day uniform it’s a fundamental part of the equation.
Its history might be long and deeply established – early examples go as far back as 3000 BC – but the shirt’s capacity for reinvention is endless. Creative director Louise Trotter demonstrated as much with the spring summer 2017 runway collection.
Here, an entire segment of the show was devoted to the potency of the button up. To its potential. Offering a complete wardrobe solution, the shirt is re-imagined as skirt, jacket and dress. With balloon sleeves cinched through toggles at the wrist, cut from paper-thin leathers and raw linen. With layered and belted fronts for a touch of modernity.
This season, discover the shirt all over again.
